Courses and Demonstrations

Curlew Cottage, as the name suggests the house is named after seeing so many Curlews in winter nearby. Birdlife is prolific with the surrounding nature reserve, marshes, saltflats and open countryside, plus an awareness by local residents who assist the wildlife both in habitat and feed. Kurlew Cottage offers the perfect opportunity for your art holiday/breaks/lessons with it's wonderful location near the sea, vast beaches and private gardens and ponds. Situated in the pretty village of Theddlethorpe not far from the attractive market town of Louth, Mablethorpe and Grimsby. There are many facilities, workshop for - pottery, woodworking, lathe, pyrography, woodcarving, picture framing and mount cutting and painting. There are additional activities available in the private gardens and large pond for angling. You may have a go at archery, airgun, or simply enjoy the walks, bike or rest in seclusion by the Koi pond and waterfall.

 

For such courses Rosie and Peter Wood are only offering their facilities to individuals for lessons or to small groups a few times a year in order to give a quality experience that ALL will enjoy, including themselves. This is not an insensitive commercial operation but two experienced fully qualified educators with many years, successful, experience who will provide personal attention whether it be for an hour or from morning until bedtime! With this in mind students and artists of almost any ability and needs are welcome and we are certain will enjoy and succeed. Basic tools and materials will be provided in the price, it is up to the individual as to how much work or variety they wish to produce and therefore materials they require, but unlike many commercial courses, an opportunity to paint is offered almost full time, the group choosing the path required. Demonstrations both for the group and personal are constantly available in almost any medium.

 1. Day courses - Quality tailor made courses for small groups (max 5) giving almost one to one tuition and a choice of multi mediums. Professional tuition and wonderful surroundings. Plus full workshop / studio facilities.

2. Two hour art lessons. Any medium.

3. Art groups/societies, clubs - Day outdoor painting workshop max. 15, includes a full demonstration

4. 2 hour visiting demonstration, any medium - ( art society in village hall ? ) Any number of members viewing, subject and method to be agreed and chosen by negotiation.

 

Tuition - €20.00 p.day including basic materials - minimum 2 students

 

Minimum 4 students at £5.00

 

£18.00 per student.

£60.00 plus travel expenses if over 30 miles away.

Art/photography/film/craft courses -

 

You may compose a "creative" menu to suit your groups needs, from digital photography and film making - to almost any fine art medium in drawing and painting. You may also use the craft studio for pottery, woodwork, pyrography, printmaking and engraving.

As an experienced Teacher and Artist I am able to offer short demonstrations and organise courses for Art groups, clubs, societies and individuals.

Demonstrations are usually under the titles of --

"A complete Introduction to Oil Painting," "A complete Introduction to Pastels," "Many methods of Drawing," "An Introduction to Watercolour techniques," ," "Mixed Medium - Acrylic Inks, Watercolour, Pastel, Pencil". Most are supported with full sets of notes.

A two hour slide show which includes a short demonstration or "field study" in pastels is available showing the scenery and work being produced on painting trips abroad and in England. (only available, later, in France)

A limited amount of Workshops and Courses can be arranged, according to requirements, needs and the subject.
